Hello and welcome to my Revelations Study part 7 “Eternity Future

This will be the last study of this seven part series. Here we are going to continue where we left off from part 6 of this series and look at what will take place after the Great White Throne Judgement. These last two chapters in the book of Revelations focus on three main events:

  • The New Heaven and New Earth,
  • The New Jerusalem,
  • The Final Message

Lets start off by looking at Rev 21:1 nasb (The New Heaven and Earth)

Here we see that a new Heaven and new Earth were created and the first Heaven and Earth were destroyed. But why is that? What would be the reason for destroying the first Heaven and Earth? If you read a little further, Rev 21:5 nasb gives us this answer.

If you made yourself a sandwich and then dropped it in the mud, would pick it up, clean it off as best you can and then eat it? You could try to wipe the mud off, or even run it under some water to wash it off. But no matter what you do, the mud probably got absorbed into the bread and stained it, therefore no matter what you do to try to clean it, it will still be tainted. So what do you do? You would probably make yourself a new sandwich, one that hasn’t been dropped in the mud that you can enjoy and be satisfied.

This is the very reason God created a new Heaven and Earth, because the first Heaven and Earth were tainted and forever stained by sin. The Earth, because of sin brought forth by the Fall of Man (Gen 3:1-7 nasb), and Heaven, because Satan and all his angels (evil angels that follow Satan) currently dwell in Heaven and have access to Earth (Rev 12:7-8 nasb, Job 1:6-7 nasb). Therefore, just like the muddy sandwich, the first Heaven and Earth were stained by evil and sin, making a new and pure Heaven and Earth necessary for eternity future.

But what about the New Jerusalem?

First off, the New Jerusalem will not be physically located on the New Earth. In Rev 21:10 nasb the apostle John tells us that he was taken by an angel to a high mountain, where he saw the New Jerusalem “coming down out of heaven from God.”

Rev 21:16 nasb describes this city as being a cube shape 1,500 x 1,500 x 1,500 miles in length, width, and height! To give you an idea how big this really is, take a look at the size comparison below:

Also note that the New Jerusalem will be 1,500 feet high as well, making it extend well past that of the earths atmosphere.

So knowing Johns testimony (looking up at the New Jerusalem from a high mountain) and knowing the enormous size of this city, we can conclude that this city will be floating somewhere above the New Earth and close enough to be seen.

The rest of this chapter lays out a detailed picture of this incredible city (Rev 21:10-27 nasb). It will have twelve pearly gates (three on each wall) each one having the name of one of the twelve tribes of Israel on it. The walls and streets being pure gold, like transparent glass. Also note that in verse 23 here it says that there will be no need for a sun or moon due to Gods light illuminating the entire city and verse 25 says that there will be no night whatsoever.

Last, lets look at Christs final message to the Church.

Rev 22:12-13 nasb / Rev 22:16 nasb / Rev 22:20-21 nasb

Here, Jesus Himself confirms that He will return to render judgement upon the whole earth and reward those who are overcomers (1 John 5:4 nasb) and that it happen soon. Make sure that you are prepared!
